Male Fertility Art of Ancient Rome — Priapus
The Romans adopted the Greek fertility god Priapus both in name and form. As in Greece,
depictions of him with a large erection served to stimulate the sex energy and increase male potency.
Also included in this gallery are the more base phallic 'pointers' etched in Roman roads,
believed to point the way to brothels.
