Christian Sacred Geometry — Vesica Piscis
Vesica piscis (sometimes spelled vesica pisces) is a sacred geometrical form that in the last 2,000 years has taken on
Christian meaning. It is now perhaps most commonly known in the popular 'Jesus fish'.
The form, created by the intersection of two circles, was in pre-Christian times associated with the Goddess,
and in particular, Her Womb. It thus has sacred sexual connotation as the origin of the creation.
Images of Christ within the vesica piscis are meant to signify his emergence from that primordial womb.
The vesica piscis is often used in images depicting not only Christ,
but also the Madonna, including the resemblance to it seen in the image of
Our Lady of Guadalupe. The well known Gothic arch of medieval Christian churches also draws its form from it.
